How much does an apartment move cost in Israel?
The honest answer is "it depends" — but not arbitrarily. Eight factors decide almost the entire price. Know them, and you get accurate quotes and understand why two movers quote differently.
The eight factors that set the price
- How much you own, not how many rooms. A "3-room" apartment can be minimalist or hold a bookcase, a second fridge and a six-door wardrobe. Movers price volume and weight, so a detailed item list is worth more than any general description.
- Floor and elevator — at both ends. Every floor without an elevator is more carrying time and more hands. A small elevator that will not take a sofa or wardrobe counts, for this purpose, as no elevator.
- Distance from the truck to the door. Parking at the entrance versus 50 metres through a path, courtyard or outside stairs makes a visible difference — which is exactly why movers ask.
- Crane or window hoisting. When an item will not go up the stairwell or into the elevator, it is lifted from outside. That means extra equipment and sometimes extra crew.
- Special items. Pianos, safes, gym equipment, aquariums and fragile pieces need dedicated equipment and experience and are priced separately.
- Packing, disassembly and assembly. Packing yourself saves money but takes days; a packing crew costs more and saves the time. Taking apart and reassembling wardrobes and beds is a separate service worth mentioning up front.
- Distance between the addresses. Within a city it matters little; between cities the travel time becomes a real part of the price.
- Date and time. End of month, the run-up to holidays and the summer months are the busiest periods. Flexibility on the date is the simplest way to get more quotes.
Why phone quotes never match
Call several movers and each asks slightly different questions and pictures a slightly different apartment. One heard "three rooms", the second also heard about the bookcase, the third never asked about the elevator. The quotes differ — not because one is cheaper, but because each is pricing a different job.
To compare for real, give everyone exactly the same information: the same addresses, floors, item list and services. Then the differences between quotes are differences in price, not in understanding.
What to check in every quote
- Whether VAT (ma'am) is included — and what the total comes to with it.
- Whether all the services you asked for are in: disassembly and assembly, packing materials, crane.
- What happens if an item that was not on the list turns up on moving day.
- Who the mover is: whether they are verified, and what previous customers wrote.
How it works on MoveIL
The MoveIL request form asks about exactly these factors: addresses, floor and elevator at each end, mamad (safe room), distance from truck to door, a detailed item list, and services such as packing, disassembly and assembly, crane or window hoisting. You fill it in once, and verified movers see it and send quotes.
Because every quote answers the same request, you compare prices — and each quote lists base price, labour, packing and VAT separately. The whole app works in English.
Describe your move once and get quotes from verified movers.

Why is there no price list here?
Because a moving price comes from the combination of the factors on this page, and a generic price list by number of rooms misleads more than it helps. The accurate way to know what your move costs is to get quotes on its real details.
When is it cheapest to move?
Mid-month, mid-week and outside the holidays and summer, when demand for movers is lower. A few days of flexibility increases the number of quotes you receive.
Does the price include VAT?
It depends on the mover, so it is worth checking. On MoveIL every quote shows VAT on its own line and the total including it.
How far ahead should I book?
In busy periods such as the end of the month and summer, post a request several weeks ahead. In quiet periods shorter notice works.
